Meizhou Island: An Island of Romance


Meizhou Island is an island shrouded in mystery and romance. Not only is it the birthplace of Mazu, but it is also a tourist destination that captivates visitors.

From the moment you step onto Meizhou Island, you are greeted by the salty sea breeze, carrying a subtle scent of the ocean. Before you lies the vast blue sea, its waves rolling and crashing, offering a breathtaking view.

Amidst the azure expanse where the sea meets the sky, lies the mystical and beautiful Meizhou Island. Located in Xiuyu District, Putian City, Fujian Province, it is the cradle of Mazu culture.

📿 Exploring Mazu Culture
Mazu, originally named Lin Mo, was a maritime goddess during the Northern Song Dynasty. Known for her bravery, kindness, and wisdom, she rescued countless fishermen and merchant ships in distress at sea, earning her the revered title of "Goddess of Peace."

🚗 Transportation Guide:
● Transportation: After arriving at Putian Railway Station, take the bus to Wenjia Wharf from the bus stop on the right side of the station exit. Purchase ferry tickets through the WeChat mini-program "Meizhou Island Ferry." The first ferry from Wenjia Wharf departs at 7:20 am, and the last ferry departs at 6:00 pm. The first ferry from Meizhou Island departs at 7:00 am, and the last ferry departs at 5:40 pm, with departures every 20 minutes. Night ferries depart at 6:20 pm, 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 9:00 pm from Meizhou Island to Wenjia Wharf and back. Half-price tickets are available for students and teachers with valid IDs. On the island, you can rent electric scooters, take sightseeing buses, etc.

Tips:
1. If you don't know how to ride an electric scooter, you can use a ride-hailing app like Didi. Ride-hailing services are readily available on the island and are much cheaper than sightseeing buses!
2. Be sure to wear sunscreen. Bring plenty of water when visiting Ewei Shisheng Park, as it involves a long walk.
3. If you want to visit both the Sky Ladder and Feiji Cave, it's recommended to visit the Sky Ladder first and then Feiji Cave to avoid unnecessary climbing up and down.
4. To watch the sunset, go to the Ewei Sunset Coast Resort Community, which is located on the beach behind Whale's Joy Blue Tears.
5. If you're heading to the Sky Ladder in Ewei Geological Park, you can navigate directly to the Tiao Xianglan Sculpture.

Considering the high volume of tourists, it's commendable that the restrooms are clean and offer free foot-washing and shower facilities. 👍
