Ulanqab Station - Hohhot East Station

⚡️【Transportation Arrangement】
Hohhot Airport is very close to the city, and you can take the subway to Hohhot East Station in 20 minutes.
The scenic spots in Ulanqab are far apart and public transportation is inconvenient. There is only a green train from Ulanqab to Datong. There are two ways:
📍Local car rental/charter: The price is affordable in the off-season, so you can choose it first
(We chose to rent a local car, the car rental app is 450 yuan per day, and it is very convenient to borrow and return)
📍Although there are routes for public transportation, it is not recommended, and the efficiency and flexibility are poor
⚡️【Introduction to attractions】
📍Ulan Hada Volcano - Free attractions, volcanoes 5 and 6 are very beautiful.
It is recommended to go directly to Volcano No. 6 from Volcano No. 8, so that you can take photos with a sense of outer space and capture both Volcanoes No. 6 and No. 5 at the same time.
Volcano No. 5 is the best preserved and can be climbed if you are physically fit.
📍Gulinaobao Geological Relics Reserve - The same columnar lava terrain as Iceland, the photo quality is very good.
📍Aobao in Chahar Right Front Banner - a local Mongolian specialty, very close to Gulinaobao and can be visited together.
📍Yungang Grottoes - the filming location of "The Monkey King" and "Journey to the West". It is the only one of the four major grottoes built by the royal family. It is very beautiful and you must go.
📍Huayan Temple - Also the filming location for "The Monkey King", the murals in the temple give people a sense of time travel, and girls wear skirts to take magazine cover photos with the murals as the background.
📍Nine Dragon Wall - not far from Huayan Temple, free public attraction, can enter with mainland China ID card
📍Dazhao Wuliang Temple - suitable for taking photos of Mongolian costumes, classic attractions
📍Inner Mongolia Museum and Art Gallery - learn about the local culture of Liao and Jin, the art gallery also has strong local grassland culture characteristics, recommended to visit.
⚡️【Food Recommendation】
As a Sichuanese, I have a very picky taste. I personally think that Inner Mongolian food is better than Shanxi food.
📍Inner Mongolia’s main products include various dairy products, roasted lamb legs and lamb chops, local barbecue (including roasted milk cakes, roasted dried apricots), lamb rib hot pot, sausage wrapped meat, fried lamb offal, King Iron Hat Barbecue, Inner Mongolia buckwheat noodles, etc.
📍Recommended food in Datong, Shanxi Province: knife-cut noodles, jelly, and grains. I was surprised that Datong also eats rabbit heads (mainly with heavy braised flavors rather than spicy flavors).
