Introduction to Tuoquan Village

Tuoquan Village, located in Huangdong Township, Qi County, Hebi City, Henan Province, is named for the camel-shaped mountain to the west and the spring that never dries up in the village. National Highway G342 and a river pass through the village, connected by a stone arch bridge called "Unity Bridge." Built in the 1960s, the bridge bears witness to the village's historical changes.

Geography
Tuoquan Village is located in a deep mountainous area, approximately 35 kilometers southeast of the county seat and 2.5 kilometers northeast of the Huangdong Township Government. The village's ancient dwellings are staggered and layered, forming a unique layout that resembles a "hanging on the mountainside."

History and Culture
Tuoquan Village's history dates back to the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (circa 14th century), when members of the Wang clan migrated from Shanxi. Over 40 natural landscapes from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China remain in the village.

Unity Bridge: Built by the entire village, it was once a vital passage connecting the east and west banks. However, due to years of disrepair, the bridge's guardrails were damaged, making it prone to flooding.

Huai Bao Chun: Located on the west bank of the river, this tree is over 300 years old, with a girth of 2.8 meters. From its branches grows a black toon tree (1.2 meters in girth), providing dense shade in summer.

Dragon King Temple: Legend has it that monks built a temple here during the Han Dynasty, and it later gained its name due to the legend of the Dragon King. A century-old cypress tree and a stone stele (where a stone statue of the Dragon King was originally carved) still remain.

Current Status
The population has declined in recent years, with fewer than 100 permanent residents, with many young people moving to the surrounding areas of the county seat. Most of the remaining ancient dwellings in the village are stone structures, retaining traditional elements such as stone walls and gray tiles.

The buildings include the Wang Chongru Residence, with its five gates facing each other. Its main courtyard consists of a hall, side rooms, and a reception room. The walls are made of fine materials and the stone joints are finely creviced.
