Still the Binyang Cai Family Ancient Courtyard

The Cai Family Scholarly Ancient Residence consists of the Cai Family Academy, the Cai Family Scholarly Ancient Residence Complex, the Xiao Jin Western-style Building, Western-style Houses, and more. It was originally built during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty, with a history of over 500 years. It was rebuilt after a disaster in the ninth year of the Xianfeng era by Cai Lingxiao, a Qing Dynasty scholar.

This Cai family truly is a wealthy household. Look at the courtyard with its multiple courtyards and entrances, covering a building area of 15,000 square meters, with 189 rooms of various sizes. It has a complete series of defense systems and water drainage systems. The main buildings are divided into the main hall, the second hall, and the third hall. The main hall is the tallest, followed by the second and third halls, reflecting the supreme status of the main hall; each hall is connected on the left and right by front corridors, with a courtyard in the middle, forming a "four waters converging to the hall" architectural layout, embodying the folk architectural concept of "wealth gathering from all directions." It is known as the "Qiao Family Courtyard of the South."
