Heading to the Qilian Grassland: Encounter the Most Healing Vastness and Freedom in Northwest China
This time I finally checked off the long-awaited Qilian Mountains! Although it was a rainy day, the misty Qilian Mountains added a sense of mystery, and the Danxia landforms in the distance appeared faintly in the rain. Every shot looked like a masterpiece 📸
📍Qilian Mountain Scenic Area
- Address: Within Qilian County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture
- Opening Hours: Open all year round, 24/7
If it’s your first time in Qilian, be sure to visit these spots:
1️⃣ Zhuo'er Mountain Viewing Platform
Even on rainy days, you can capture atmospheric mountain views, with the sea of clouds rolling dramatically
2️⃣ Qilian Grassland
A super vast grassland; although it was cloudy, it didn’t affect its grandeur at all. Horses leisurely grazing are especially soothing
3️⃣ Heihe Grand Canyon
From a high vantage point, you can overlook the entire canyon. When the weather clears, you can see the winding Heihe River, which is truly spectacular
💡Travel Tips:
- The temperature difference between morning and evening is large in the plateau area, so remember to bring a windproof jacket
- Sunscreen is essential; even on cloudy days, UV rays are strong
- Many places in the scenic area have no signal, so it’s recommended to download offline maps in advance
- If you are prone to altitude sickness, remember to prepare an oxygen bottle
