Where The Great Wall Meets The Sea

This part of The Great Wall is called Laolongtou or “Dragon’s Head”. It is located in Shanhaiguan District of Qinhuangdao and is the part of the wall that extends about 20 meters into the Bohai sea. It is definitely worth a visit. Once called the beginning of the Great Wall, the dragon’s head makes for some cool photographs.
Easily accessed by fast train from most major cities. The beach is not great but you can get your feet wet and enjoy a cold drink or meal by the sea.
The town is not very foreigner-friendly so be sure to call ahead to see if your chosen hotel will accept you. There are many seafood restaurants serving delicious dishes and the people are mostly very warm and welcoming.
