Shimen Lake Scenic Area is a national-level water conservancy scenic spot located in Xixia County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, a "National Tourism Demonstration County." The scenic area covers over 100,000 mu (approximately 16,000 acres), with over 10,000 mu (approximately 16,000 acres) of water area. It lies upstream of the Danjiangkou Reservoir, part of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project. The area boasts a rich tapestry of natural and cultural attractions, blending lush green mountains, clear waters, and blue skies with white clouds, creating an ideal destination for tourism, leisure, and vacation.
Shimen Lake, like a piece of emerald, is embedded in the treacherous peaks and grotesque valleys of Guanzhi Mountain and is surrounded by mountains. It is the location of "Shimen Suyun", one of the eight scenic spots in Liancheng in the past. To deeply experience the tranquility and picturesque scenery of Shimen Lake, boating is undoubtedly the best way. Climb aboard a tourist boat and slowly move forward. The oars cut through the shimmering lake surface, pushing the boat sometimes through narrow canyons and sometimes strolling leisurely on the open lake. "Water flows through the mountains, and mountains flow back into the water." The mountain breeze is cool and comfortable. The mountains are slowly receding, the water is slowly receding, and it seems that the end of the lake is approaching.
