Boao Milk Sea on a sunny day is truly stunning!

Qionghai | A Detailed Guide to Milk Sea

The scenery at Qionghai Milk Sea is absolutely breathtaking, so beautiful that it's hard to look away! To get there, simply navigate to Meng Caiyuan. Upon arrival, you'll find ample parking spaces on both sides of the road, so parking is a breeze. There are also many vendors selling coconuts and drinks at reasonable prices along the road. Grab a refreshing drink when you need a break.

Public restrooms are easy to find, just a bit further past the Meng Caiyuan sign. They are portable restrooms.

Be sure to visit on a sunny day. If it's cloudy or rainy, the seawater will appear gray and murky, and you won't be able to see the dreamy, milky texture. However, if it's a bit cloudy in the morning, you can visit Tanmen Village to see the sea. The gray sky combined with the unique rock formations creates a different kind of charm. But Boao Milk Sea on a sunny day will definitely not disappoint; it's more beautiful than you can imagine!

Tickets and Recommended Route

This area is free and open to the public. You can explore it however you like. The best route is to stroll along the coastline, feeling the fine sand beneath your feet, and admire the seascape. After reaching the end of the beach, walk back and enjoy the beach further.

Best Photo Spots

Here's a photography tip: Stand across the road and zoom in with your phone's camera at 3x magnification. This way, you can capture the azure sky, the clear sea, and the white sandy beach all in one frame. The result is even more stunning than close-up shots. Of course, the shell piles on the beach are also great photo spots. With the shells and the sea as your backdrop, every shot is a masterpiece.

Local Cuisine

Qionghai's cuisine is incredibly diverse! You must try the local Zaopo Vinegar, a Qionghai specialty. The sour and spicy soup base, combined with various seafood, vegetables, and meatballs, is a burst of flavor in every bite. There's also Ji Shi Teng Ba Zai. Despite its unusual name, it tastes amazing. These small cakes are made with tender Ji Shi Teng leaves and glutinous rice flour. They have a soft, chewy texture and a subtle herbal fragrance. They are usually served in sweet soup, and a bowl of it is incredibly comforting.

Things to Note

Take sun protection measures as the sun is very strong at the beach and can easily cause sunburn.

Protect the environment. Do not litter and keep the beach clean.

Pay attention to safety when playing at the beach. Do not go into deep water, especially if you cannot swim.
