Chengtian Zen Temple: A Serene and Tranquil Temple in the Bustling City of Quanzhou

Quanzhou is an open and inclusive city where various religious beliefs find their place. The city is dotted with temples, Taoist temples, ancestral halls, and more. Amidst this bustling city, the serene Chengtian Zen Temple might not stand out at first glance.

Also known as Yuetai Temple, Chengtian Zen Temple is one of the many temples in Quanzhou. Although it is not as famous as Kaiyuan Temple, it is an ancient temple with a history of over a thousand years. Located in the ancient city area, it has witnessed the development and changes of Quanzhou over time and is now a well-known temple in the city.

The temple covers a large area with halls and pavilions scattered throughout. It is a place of thriving incense and numerous devotees. Many large trees are planted within the temple, especially the ancient banyan tree in front of the main hall. The curling smoke from the incense burner, the low chanting of monks from the inner hall, and the devout prayers of believers at the entrance create a serene atmosphere. Standing under the banyan tree, one can feel the calming effect of the Buddhist chants and incense, bringing great peace to a restless heart.
