Introducing Carp Creek

Liyu Creek is located in Puyuan Village, five kilometers west of Zhouning County. Originating at the foot of Ziyun Mountain, at an altitude of 1,448 meters, Liyu Creek is fed by dozens of mountain streams and springs. The stream winds its way around the peaks before suddenly slowing down at the entrance of Puyuan Village, winding its way through the village. The stream, one li long and several meters wide, flows through the village.

Seven or eight thousand large, colorful carp swim leisurely in the stream. They " come to the sound of human voices and gather at the sight of human figures , " " flying and scrambling to find food," their colorful scales fluttering . They are docile and gentle, truly like " divine fish . " Their graceful figures are lively and adorable. The water is knee-deep, clear enough to see the bottom, and the carp fill the stream, hence the name " Carp Stream . "

It is said that in the Song Dynasty more than 700 years ago, in order to purify the water source, people released carp into the stream and formulated clan rules prohibiting the fishing and harming of carp. The villagers also strictly abided by the clan rules and passed them down from generation to generation. Since then, protecting carp has become the local folk rules and customs.

Not only do people not catch live carp for food, but even dead carp are buried, making the stream a rare carp nature reserve. In this stream, barely 300 meters long and about 5 meters wide, thousands of colorful carp gather. Visitors can attract a school of carp by hanging a large pancake on a thin line.
