As a coffee shop that has been open in an alley in Quanzhou for some years, Balangyu Coffee is as popular as ever and has always been in my favorites. This time, I finally came to check in with my friends.
When I first came across this shop, I was curious about the name, so I looked through some interviews. It turned out that because balanga is a very common and cheap fish in the local area, the people of southern Fujian have grown up eating it. The owner hopes that his coffee brand can also be rooted in life and in Quanzhou.
This store is located in a small building in Chengtian Lane, with a strong community atmosphere.
The first floor is the Chi Zi Space, which displays some books, clothes, etc. There are occasional exhibitions and salons, and you can also make an appointment for a haircut. What a wonderful place.
The second floor is the coffee area, which is decorated with wooden bookshelves and a large number of books. Old-fashioned CD players, handmade lanterns and worn-out fans add a lot of retro feel to the space. Through the window, outside is an old southern Fujian red brick and tile house, and downstairs are residents and pedestrians passing by leisurely. The fusion of humanities and art gives this store a unique charm.
I didn't order popular creative coffees such as lychee cold brew, fried dough sticks affogato, etc., but the regular coffee was also good. I will go there again next time I come to Quanzhou~
