The Quanzhou Confucian Temple was first built during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty (713-741), and has been rebuilt and expanded many times during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties to form its current scale. It is an important symbol of Quanzhou's ancient culture and education, and bears witness to the profound heritage of Quanzhou as a famous historical and cultural city.
