7-Day Leisure Travel Guide for Fujian's Mountains and Seas

Fujian's Six Most Famous Attractions|7 Days of Convenient Leisure Travel, Full Experience of Mountains, Seas, and Culture

As an experienced travel blogger who has traveled across the country, if I were to choose only the most famous attractions in Fujian, I recommend this classic route from north to south, which is convenient and without detours: Wuyi Mountain → Fuzhou Three Lanes and Seven Alleys → Ningde Taimu Mountain → Putian Meizhou Island → Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple → Xiamen Gulangyu Island. Pure leisure with no shopping, a relaxed pace, suitable for travelers with ample time.

📍Day 1-2: Wuyi Mountain|Danxia Tea Charm
Stay in Xingcun Town, take a bamboo raft ride on the Nine-Bend Creek early in the morning (a must, ¥130), and in the afternoon walk the Rock Bone and Flower Fragrance Trail (free section with stunning scenery). Avoid the crowds at the Dahongpao scenic area, visit tea farmers to taste authentic Wuyi rock tea, and even if you don’t buy tea, you can still experience it.

📍Day 3: Fuzhou Three Lanes and Seven Alleys|Millennium Pulse of Min Culture
About 3.5 hours by car. It’s recommended to stay in Cangshan District to avoid the main commercial streets, focusing on exploring Yijin Lane’s deep alleys and the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall. Nearby snacks like Guobianhu and tar paste are authentic and affordable, about ¥40 per person for a full meal.

📍Day 4: Ningde Taimu Mountain|Fairyland on the Sea
2 hours by car. Start early to avoid heat and crowds, hike the Taimu Mountain scenic area to see strange rocks and sea of clouds, and after descending, enjoy a distant view of Qingchuan Bay Beach (no need to enter the paid area). Ticket ¥100, cable car optional.

📍Day 5: Putian Meizhou Island|Hometown of Mazu
2 hours by car. Avoid the crowded and expensive ancestral temple core area, focus on cycling along the island’s east road, enjoying coconut groves, sea breeze, and stunning mudflat sunsets. In the evening, go clam digging at Houhai Fishing Village, and feast on seafood at stalls for about ¥50 per person until full.

📍Day 6: Quanzhou Kaiyuan Temple|Half City of Smoke and Fire, Half City of Immortals
1.5 hours by car. Stroll the old alleys of West Street early in the morning, watch elders making tinware and repairing Buddhist items. The free area around Kaiyuan Temple is enough to appreciate the beauty of red brick ancient houses; internal visit costs only ¥10.

📍Day 7: Xiamen Gulangyu Island|The True Flavor of the Piano Island
1 hour by car. Book tickets online in advance (¥35), arrive before 8 AM to avoid crowds. Recommended route: Most Beautiful Corner → Shuzhuang Garden → Sunlight Rock → Gangzaihou Seaside. Before returning in the afternoon, have a bowl of local satay noodles.

💰 Budget Control (7 days 6 nights):
- Accommodation: Budget + homestay ¥150/night × 6 = ¥900
- Food: Snacks + simple meals ¥70/day × 7 = ¥490
- Self-driving fuel + tolls ≈ ¥500 (total mileage about 800 km)
- Attraction tickets total about ¥300
👉 Total per person about ¥2190, very affordable for the general public!

💡 Is self-driving suitable? Highly recommend for the first five segments! For Xiamen, ferry + walking is suggested.
⚠️ Pitfall tips: Gulangyu and Taimu Mountain get crowded during holidays, stagger your visits; “free guided tours” in scenic spots are actually shopping promotions, firmly decline; ask prices before ordering at seafood stalls; book Wuyi Mountain bamboo raft in advance to avoid sellouts.

In Fujian,
the most beautiful scenery is not at the check-in spots,
but in a pole through the mist on Nine-Bend Creek,
in a wisp of marinade aroma drifting from the courtyard of West Street.
Walk slowly, and you will encounter—
the soul of Min land unchanged for a thousand years between the mountains and seas.
