An unforgettable trip

Sharing a New Zealand itinerary!

April 13th to April 23rd is the autumn season.
This trip focuses on exploring the South Island.
Of course, driving around New Zealand is a dream for many.

****** The total cost for this trip was 80,000 - 85,000 baht (37,000 baht for airfare).

πŸ“Œ Day 0-1
- Traveled on Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand to Auckland Airport.

πŸ“Œ Day 1-2
- From Auckland Airport, landed at Christchurch Airport, New Zealand. Picked up the car and drove to Tekapo (3 hours).
This time, I booked a car from Go Rental, and I have to say it was excellent. The price was good, and the car was new. The first night we stayed at Lakes Edge Holiday Park.

I forgot to mention, from CHC to Tekapo, you'll pass by the pie shop "Fairlie Bakehouse." The pie was huge and incredibly delicious.

πŸ“Œ Day 3
- Traveled to Mount Cook (2 hours). We stopped at the famous Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Shop and took photos of highlights like Peter's Lookout. The view was absolutely stunning! A million chickens
- In the afternoon, we went on the Hooker Valley Track, a 3-4 hour round trip hike (the trail is relatively flat).
β€’ Stayed at the Haka House Aoraki Mt. Cook Hotel

πŸ“Œ Day 4
- Depart for Queenstown via the Lindis Pass, a beautiful route. Afterwards, travel to Cromwell, a city famous for its orchards. You may stop to buy seasonal fruits.
- Take the Queenstown Gondola for a bird's-eye view of Queenstown after capturing some evening photos.
- Check in at Quest Queentown Apartments, where I stayed for two nights.
*** When you arrive in Queenstown, you must try the Ferg Burger. If you don't, it's like you haven't been there. Also, try the milk at Cookies Time, a famous and delicious shop.

πŸ“Œ Day 5
- In the morning, take a bird's-eye view of the city from the Remarkable Lookout. Then, travel to Arrowtown, the spot for autumn leaves at Wilcox.
β€’ In the afternoon, travel to Glennorchy, a scenic viewpoint located about an hour from Queenstown.

πŸ“Œ Day 6
- Milford Sound (4 hours) via Lake Te Anau and various scenic photo spots. (We'll have to come back and rest soon.)
- Stay at Te Anau Lakeview Holiday Park and Motels

πŸ“Œ Day 7
- Afterward, grab lunch and travel to Wanaka (4.5 hours by car). Visit all the city's highlights and stay in Wanaka for 2 nights.
β€’ Take photos at #ThatWanakaTree
β€’ Travel to Lake Matheson (3.5 hours by car) to capture the sunset at Lake Matheson and walk around the lake for about an hour. From here, you can see Mount Cook and Mount Tasman reflected in the water around the lake. (I didn't go because I sprained my ankle πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…)
- Stay at Apartments on Upton (nice accommodation, but the only downside is that you have to pick up your keys at another location, which is a bit of a hassle, but overall, it's a good day.)

πŸ“Œ Day 8
- Hike Roys Peak
Today is called Leg Day (it takes at least 6 hours to walk). This signature hike is a must-do for those looking to challenge themselves. I gave up and gave up again and again, lol.
β€’ Distance: 16 km. It took a long-legged foreigner 5-6 hours to climb up and down, but I got 9. Such a great number! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

πŸ“Œ Day 9
- Woke up and walked like a penguin. Yesterday's hike was so intense, lol. So I woke up a little late today.
- Headed to Fox Glacier (4 hours).
- Planned to take a helicopter, but due to unfavorable weather conditions, I'm going tomorrow instead.
- Checked in to Franz Josef (30 minutes' drive). Tonight, I'll be staying at The Terrace.

πŸ“Œ Day 10
- Helicopter
- Departed for Christchurch via Castle Hill/Arthur Pass.
- On my last day, I was craving Thai food, so I stopped at Good Thai Restaurant. I highly recommend it! It's incredibly delicious. After we ate, I returned the car at the airport.
Today, I stayed at the Novotel CHC Airport because I have an early flight back tomorrow.

πŸ“Œ Day 11
- Returned safely to Bangkok.

P.S. The drive to each place took longer than the map indicated. Because we stopped at every stop, but never reached our destination on time, lol.
