A bout of autumn rain has washed the night of Qufu Drum Tower Street exceptionally clear. The light from street lamps and lanterns falls onto the wet pavement, creating a warm yellow ripple, as if laying a layer of glaze over this old street.
The trees by the roadside still hold the lingering charm of autumn, but the red lanterns hanging among the branches have already ignited the lively night. They hang, some bright and some dim, intertwined with the colorful lights on the trees, dyeing the passing breeze red. Walking under the trees and looking up, you see a "tree of lights." Getting closer to take a photo, the red of the lanterns softens your cheeks; stepping back to shoot, the Drum Tower appears faintly in the lantern shadows, a dialogue between ancient and modern hidden in this frame.
The puddles on the street act as natural mirrors, reflecting the lanterns, buildings, and traffic. When the shutter clicks, reality and reflection overlap, as if the entire night is folded into the lens. Those antique buildings look even more elegant in the warm light. Even just standing by the roadside, letting the light outline your silhouette, the street scene behind you makes you seem like you’ve stepped out of a bygone era.
Drum Tower Street after the autumn rain lacks the daytime hustle and bustle but gains a unique tranquility and romance of a rainy night. The red lanterns are the stars here, turning Qufu’s night into a cup of mellow wine. Every shot captures an intoxicating atmosphere, making you want to linger a little longer in this glow.
