Hiking Mount Kota Kinabalu was an unforgettable adventure — both physically demanding and spiritually rewarding. The journey began with lush rainforest trails, gradually giving way to rugged granite slopes as the altitude climbed. The landscape shifted dramatically with every step, offering breathtaking views, rare flora, and the occasional mischievous mountain squirrel.
The overnight stay at Panalaban Base Camp was basic but comfortable, with enough warmth and food to recharge before the summit push. Starting the ascent at 2am under a blanket of stars was surreal. The final climb was steep and challenging, but reaching Low’s Peak just in time for sunrise was a moment of pure awe — golden light spilling over the clouds and valleys below.
It’s not an easy trek, but it’s absolutely worth it for anyone looking to push their limits and witness one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic views. A true bucket list experience.
