🌴 Here comes the super chill Redang Island travel guide! This hidden gem of an island is truly breathtaking, with jelly-like transparent waters and coconut groves with white sand that make every photo a masterpiece~
🚩 Must-visit spots:
📍 Cenang Bay Beach
The perfect combo of crystal-clear blue water and soft white sand. You can snorkel to see coral during the day, and be sure to catch a stunning sunset in the evening! It’s recommended to stay at a nearby hotel, just a 5-minute walk to the beach for ultimate convenience.
📍 Redang Island Marine Park
A snorkeler’s paradise! You’ll see plenty of tropical fish and sea turtles. Try to arrive before 10 AM for the best underwater visibility. Don’t forget to rent a waterproof camera at the pier in advance (about 50 MYR/day).
📍 Laguna Resort Backhill
A super off-the-beaten-path hiking trail! It takes just 20 minutes to reach the summit, where you can enjoy a 270-degree unbeatable sea view. Along the way, you’ll pass many wild coconut groves, perfect for capturing that tropical vibe.
🍽️ Food Highlights and Lowlights:
✔️ Esplanade Food Court (near the pier)
Recommended dishes: grilled stingray and satay skewers. You can eat your fill for about 30 MYR per person! Opens at 6 PM, so get there early.
✖️ Long Beach Seafood Restaurant
Expensive and average taste, not recommended for a special visit.
🏨 Best places to stay?
▫️ For a bigger budget, choose Laguna Redang: private beach + stunning infinity pool.
▫️ For value, choose Redang Beach: central location, clean rooms.
▫️ For backpackers, choose Redang Holiday: great hostel vibe.
💡 Handy tips:
1. Many places on the island only accept cash! It’s best to exchange MYR beforehand.
2. Bring plenty of sunscreen! It’s expensive locally.
3. Wear diving socks when snorkeling to avoid coral scratches.
4. Avoid the rainy season (Nov-Mar) due to frequent winds and waves.
The biggest surprise this trip was encountering a group of sea turtles at the Marine Park! They swim so slowly you can follow them for a long time~ Also caught the iconic scene of clownfish darting into sea anemones!
