Monolithos Castle, Rhodes

Climbing up to Monolithos Castle was a workout—but the payoff was incredible. The ruins sit atop a sea cliff, and from the top, the Aegean stretches to the horizon in every direction. Walking along the remnants of walls felt atmospheric, ancient, and a bit wild. I timed it near sunset; the gold-and-pink sky looked painted above the rocks. Not many tourists make it up here, which made the moment feel like a privilege.
