I went to Rebun Island, Japan's northernmost remote island! 🌊
Rebun Island is known as the "Floating Island of Flowers" for its beautiful alpine plants.🌸
At Cape Sukai, I was captivated by the captivating blue ocean and the sheer power of the cliffs!
The breathtaking views of lush greenery and crystal-clear blue ocean were truly refreshing.✨
If the weather's nice, you can take the perfect photo with Mount Rishiri in the background.📸
Walking along the Momoiwa Observatory trail, you can enjoy colorful flowers and nature, creating a picturesque landscape.
The joy of traveling is, of course, the food! This time, I chose the Atka mackerel set meal instead of sea urchin.🐟 The meat was plump and fatty, and the charcoal-grilled aroma was exquisite. It tastes even better when you eat it at the island's restaurants in between sightseeing.
It's about a two-and-a-half-hour ferry ride from Wakkanai, so we recommend combining it with a trip to Wakkanai. ⛴️

Exploring Japan’s Northernmost Island: Rebun Island 🌊🌸
Rebun Island is often called the “Floating Island of Flowers,” famous for its colorful alpine plants that bloom across the landscape.
At Cape Sukai, I was amazed by the deep blue sea and dramatic cliffs. The vibrant greenery and crystal-clear water created a breathtaking view that truly refreshed my soul. ✨ On a clear day, you can even capture the majestic Mt. Rishiri in the background. 📸
Hiking the Momoiwa Trail was another highlight—surrounded by wildflowers and sweeping ocean views, it felt like walking through a living painting.
And of course, the local food! Instead of sea urchin, I tried a classic grilled Atka mackerel set meal. (Hokke Teishoku)🐟. The fish was plump, fatty, and perfectly charred over charcoal, making it a simple yet unforgettable island delicacy.
Rebun is just a 2.5-hour ferry ride from Wakkanai⛴️, making it the perfect side trip to combine with Japan’s northernmost city. Highly recommended for nature lovers and foodies alike!
