Stroll through the old town of Safranbolu and walk into the Ottoman time tunnel

Coming to Safranbolu is like traveling back to the golden age of the Ottoman Empire. This town is famous for its well-preserved old Ottoman buildings and has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Walking into the old town, every step is full of traces of history.

Strolling in the Çarşı (market area), the narrow cobblestone streets are lined with old houses with white walls and red tiles. Every wooden window and every balcony tells a story of the past. There are various traditional handicraft shops here, selling saffron spices, Turkish tea sets, copper carvings, and the most famous local dessert, Lokum, which is sweet with a hint of saffron fragrance, making people unable to resist buying a box!

Going further, you will come to the famous Cinci Han, which was a caravan station in the 17th century. Merchants on the Silk Road would rest here. Now it has been turned into a traditional hotel and cafe. It is really amazing to sit here and drink a cup of Turkish coffee and feel the historical atmosphere!

If you love history and culture, the old town of Safranbolu is definitely a dream journey through time and space, waiting for you to explore!
