Mysteries and Legends of the Mikhailovsky Castle

The Mikhailovsky Castle is one of the most mysterious landmarks in St. Petersburg. It holds many secrets, and almost every local is familiar with the rumors of mystical events that have occurred there.

✨ It belonged to Emperor Paul I, though he only managed to live there for 40 days. It is said that visitors can still 'encounter' the owner to this day.

✨ The castle gates bear the inscription, 'Holiness befits Your house, O Lord, for length of days' (47 characters). Allegedly, a fortune teller predicted that Paul I would live for 47 years.

✨ The emperor claimed that the castle was being built by the will of Archangel Michael, which is why it bears his name. However, it is also known by another name – the Engineers' Castle.

✨ The blueprints of the underground passages, which are said to hold many secrets, were destroyed. According to legend, the treasure chest of the Knights of Malta is hidden there.

🏰 Designed by architect Vincenzo Brenna, the castle's incredible beauty and interior decor can be admired by anyone.

📍 Address: 2 Sadovaya Street.
