#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
The only remaining workshop and residence of a gunsmith from the Edo period in Japan. Some of the more than 20,000 real items handed down by the gunsmith Inoue Sekiemon family are on display, and you can experience the history of iron processing in Sakai through hands-on content and other activities.
Known as the "gunsmith's residence," this is the residence, workshop, and store of gunsmith Inoue Sekiemon, who has been in Sakai since the Edo period, and is also listed in the Sakai Dai-ezu (Great Map of Sakai) of 1689.
It has been designated as a tangible cultural property of Sakai City as the only remaining workshop and residence of a gunsmith from the Edo period in Japan.
The site includes a parlor adjacent to the main house, a tool storehouse, a rice bale storehouse, and an annexe on the west side of the site, and gives a good idea of the layout of a gunsmith's residence from the Edo period.
You can experience a "real craftsmanship space" with the latest technology through recreated exhibits such as the "shop room" and "blacksmith's shop," as well as blacksmithing content.
A volunteer from Sakai City gave a detailed explanation, which was very educational.
