Sakai Denshokan is a facility where you can experience, purchase, and experience Sakai's traditional crafts.
The first-floor sales area, "TAKUMI SHOP [Knives & Whetstones]," offers a wide variety of knives, ranging from various uses and materials to handles, allowing you to purchase your favorite.
In the "TAKUMI SHOP [Traditional Industries & Sakai Products]" area, you can find not only chusen dyeing, wasaira (traditional dyeing), and incense, but also everyday condiments and exquisite gifts made by artisans.
Souvenirs such as Sakai's specialty sweets were also available for purchase.
The "TAKUMI EXHIBITION [Traditional Industry Exhibition]" on the second floor showcases the history and manufacturing methods of Sakai's traditional industries, including chusen dyeing, wasarashi (traditional Japanese bleaching), incense, kelp processing, rugs, Sakai May Carp Banners, and Japanese sweets.
You can see the manufacturing process of Sakai at a glance.
They also hold demonstrations and hands-on events.
The Sakai Cutlery Museum "CUT" displays the history, manufacturing methods, and tools of Sakai cutlery using actual objects, models, and illustrations.
The highlight is the impressive "HIBANA" chandelier, crafted using materials from each stage of knife making.
The second floor exhibit is free, so be sure to check it out! ✨
