The Mojiang Tropic of Cancer Landmark Park is located west of Mojiang County and east of the Mojiang section of the Kunming-Bangkok Highway. It is a must-go point for travelers from Kunming to Pu'er and Xishuangbanna. Built in 1993, the park, themed around the "Culture of the Tropic of Cancer," is one of the largest and most comprehensive Tropic of Cancer Landmark Parks in the world. Integrating astronomy, geography, garden art, ethnic culture, and scenic tourism, it has been designated a patriotic education base and an astronomical science education base by Yunnan Province. It is one of the first AAAA-rated tourist attractions in Pu'er City.
The Tropic of Cancer Landmark Park takes the position of the Tropic of Cancer in 2038 AD (23 degrees 26 minutes north latitude) as its main axis, and cuts across a 500-meter section above the Tropic of Cancer. It is interspersed with architectural pieces, sculptures, and main signs such as "Road of the Sun," "Kuafu Chasing the Sun," "Gate of the Tropic of Cancer," "Sundial Square," and "Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter," creating a vivid spatial series. It uses a science museum to express the understanding of nature, life, and sunlight, and uses technical means to accurately display the geographical location and changes of the Tropic of Cancer. The Tropic of Cancer can be "captured" here every summer solstice.
Along the Tropic of Cancer, visitors can wander through the park, following the winding paths and shaded by lush trees, where cicadas chirp and birds sing. The park offers a teahouse, a children's playground, a rest pavilion, a restaurant, a small commodity market, and a comprehensive service center. While admiring the architecture, sculptures, and garden art, and gaining scientific knowledge, visitors can also enjoy Pu'er tea and Mojiang wine.
