Towering over the center of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Registan Square is a breathtaking scenic spot that can be considered a symbol of the Silk Road. 📷
The three madrassas (former Islamic seminaries) lined up here transport visitors back to the 9th century. ✨
First, head to Ulugh Beg Madrasah, on the left as you face the square.
Built by the Timurid astronomer Ulugh Beg, it features intricate geometric patterns and star-shaped tile decorations.
Inside, you'll find figurines depicting the period and historical exhibits. ⭐️
Next, head to Sher-Dor Madrasah, on the right.
The building's facade features a bold "tiger and sun" design, a rare find in Islamic art.
You'll be amazed by its photogenic exterior. ❤️
Finally, head to Tilla-Kari Madrasah, located in the back center.
The highlight here is the stunning gold-leaf dome. ✨
Its splendor is truly impressive.
Part of the building is currently used as a mosque, exuding a majestic beauty amidst its tranquil surroundings.
A single admission ticket allows you to tour the entire complex.
There's also a souvenir shop and a mini museum.
There's also a cafe.☕️
It's bustling with tourists during the day, but the madrassa is lit up at dusk.✨
You can even visit twice: in the morning to fully appreciate the interior, and then return in the evening to enjoy the magical illuminations.♪
Viewing the building from the Registan Square observation deck is free.👍
History, architecture, and atmosphere... Registan Square has it all, making it a truly must-see World Heritage site. It's amazing.😊
We recommend taking a taxi from Samarkand Station.🚕
Registan Square is about 15 minutes away.
Taxi rides are cheap ❤️ and cost around ¥400 ♪
📍Location: Samarqand, Samarqand Viloyati
💰Price per person: 100,000 som (approx. ¥1,200) for foreigners
The ticket office is next to the Ulugh Beg Madrasah.
People will cut in line, so be careful 😂
Toilets cost ¥3,000.
