The Registan Square is a true gem located in the heart of the ancient city of Samarkand. It has gained worldwide fame thanks to the magnificent architectural ensemble that serves as a monument to Oriental architecture. The square is surrounded on three sides by grand madrassahs, each with a portal facing the center of the space. Each of these buildings features its own unique décor. Due to these remarkable structures, and others preserved in the city, Samarkand was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001.
