Ambiance
Samarkand feels like stepping back in time with its breathtaking Islamic architecture and Silk Road charm. The city has a magical atmosphere—grand monuments, buzzing bazaars, and a blend of history and local life that makes it unforgettable.
Facilities
Tourist spots are well-maintained, with decent signage and guides available. Cafés and shops are easy to find, and transport is fairly convenient, though exploring on foot around the historic sites is the best way to enjoy the city.
Highlight
- Registan Square: Absolutely stunning—majestic madrasahs lit up beautifully at night.
- Bibi-Khanym Mosque: A massive, historic mosque with intricate details that leave you in awe.
- Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum: The resting place of Timur—gorgeous blue domes and rich history.
- Samsa Meat: A tasty local specialty—flaky pastry with juicy meat filling, a must-try!
