Sandakan, Malaysia: A must-visit "Little Hong Kong."

Located on the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia, Sandakan is a charming tourist city. Check out these three types of attractions:
Natural and Ecological Attractions
- Kinabatangan River: Stretching 560 km, this river is home to many of Sabah's wildlife. Take a boat ride to see proboscis monkeys, orangutans, hornbills, and, if you're lucky, pygmy elephants crossing the river or playing in the water.
- Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre: Established in 1964, this is the world's first orangutan orphan rehabilitation center. Around 80 orangutans live freely here, and you can watch them during the twice-daily feeding times.
- Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary: A great place to see proboscis monkeys up close. During feeding times, the monkeys come out in groups to grab food.
- Turtle Islands Park: Selingan Island is one of the islands, about an hour's drive from Sandakan city. It's a safe haven for green and hawksbill turtles. The best time to see turtles laying eggs is from July to October, and you can also participate in releasing baby turtles into the sea.
- Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre: About a half-hour drive from the city, this center features a 620-meter-long elevated iron bridge, the longest canopy walkway in Sabah. There are also two giant trees, offering insights into the uniqueness and importance of Borneo's tropical rainforest.

Cultural and Historical Attractions
- Sandakan Memorial Park: Commemorates Australian and British soldiers who became Japanese prisoners of war from 1942 to 1945.
- Puu Jih Shih Temple: Located on a steep hilltop, offering views of Sandakan Bay and the city center.
- St. Michael's Church: One of the oldest churches in Sabah.
- Agnes Keith House: Learn about the colonial life of Agnes Keith and Harry Keith.

Island Resorts
- Lankayan Island: Located in the Sulu Sea, enjoy diving and snorkeling with turtles. The island boasts beautiful tropical scenery and good accommodation.
- Libaran Island: About an hour's boat ride from Sandakan Pier, this is a place for leisure and vacation. Enjoy snorkeling, drifting, fishing, white sandy beaches, and beautiful sunsets.
