The Yuhua Palace Scenic Area is located in central Shaanxi Province, 30 km north of the Mausoleum of the Yellow Emperor and 120 km south of Xi'an. Directly accessible from the Yanxi Expressway, the Baomao Expressway, and National Highway 210, the scenic area boasts distinct advantages and convenient transportation. The scenic area covers 32 km², with a forest coverage rate of 95.6% and an average annual temperature of 8.4°C. The area boasts stunning scenery and a rich cultural heritage, making it a natural summer retreat and leisure destination. In 624 AD, Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty, Li Yuan, commissioned the construction of the Renzhi Palace here. In 647 AD, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Shimin, decreed the expansion of the Renzhi Palace into the Yuhua Palace, where it served as a place for summer retreat, medical treatment, and political consultation. The Yuhua Palace was once renowned in Chang'an. In 659 AD, the cultural giant Xuanzang passed away here.
After years of development and construction, the Yuhua Palace scenic area has complete functions and sound facilities. The ruins of the Tang Dynasty palace are well preserved, and the mountains, rivers and forests complement each other. It has become an AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national forest park with the forest as the background, green as the keynote, Tang culture as the core, and different scenery and special tourist activities in each season as the theme.
The warm temperate continental monsoon climate makes it suitable for travel in all four seasons.
The Yuhua Palace Scenic Area boasts the blessed sanctuaries of Guoyugou and Shanhu Valley, the boundless beauty of Yuhua Lake and Qiye Lake, and the vibrant cultural offerings of the Silk Road Xuanzang Memorial Hall and the Liu Xiaolingtong Art Museum. In spring, mountain blossoms abound with breathtaking beauty; in midsummer, the whisper of pine trees amidst the brook is refreshingly relaxing; in autumn, vibrant colors create a picturesque spectacle; in midwinter, blanketed in snow, the scenery is a dreamlike spectacle. It can be described as a "blessed land of Yaolin, a land of countless sights, outstanding people, and a rich history."
