Walnut Flats Scenic Area is the gateway to the old county seat. About 25 kilometers west of Huangbaiyuan Village, the old county seat lies there. However, the road only extends to the 20-kilometer mark, requiring a hike for the remainder. Scenic spots include Jiangjun Pond, the Mongolian Racecourse, the Drifting Pier, the Ten-Mile Gallery, and the primeval forest.
Walnut Ping primeval forest scenic area is located at the foot of Aoshan, the second highest peak in the Qinling Mountains. It is the source of the Qishui River, a first-level tributary of the Hanshui River system in the Yangtze River Basin. One of the world-famous ancient Chinese roads, the Tangluo Road, passed through this pass from Hanzhong over the Qinling Mountains and entered Guanzhong.
In summer, it is a summer resort; in autumn, the colors of the vegetation here are divided into many layers, and the forests are dyed in all colors, like oil paintings.
