Tired of the hustle and bustle of big cities? Last weekend, I took a trip to Sanming, Fujian, a charming city three times the size of Guangzhou but with so much to offer, yet still relatively unknown. If you're looking for a quiet escape before it becomes a tourist hotspot, this place should be on your list! Here are some of the hidden gems I found:

1. Yuxi Ancient Village (小婺源)
Often called the "Small Wuyuan," this thousand-year-old village is a peaceful escape with its stunning landscapes. Unlike Wuyuan, it’s not overcrowded, allowing you to fully enjoy the scenic views. The village's night views and local homestays make it a great place to relax and unwind.

2. Tai Ning County
Ganlu Temple: Though this temple gained some popularity online, it still remains relatively peaceful and is mostly visited by group tours with older travelers. However, the beauty of the place is undeniable and perfect for photography!
Tai Ning Ancient City: A cultural and historical gem where you can wander through streets filled with charm and old-world atmosphere. Don’t miss trying the local tofu, a delicious delicacy.

3. Da Jin Lake Scenic Area
This scenic spot includes a boat ride that takes you through three islands:
The first island features bamboo forests and waterfalls.
The second island boasts an ancient temple hanging on the cliffs.
The third island offers a stunning "one-line sky" view.
