'Fall'ing In Love With an Island | Sanya

#falltrip

Sanya is a popular tourist destination located on the southern tip of Hainan Island, China. Sanya enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. It's often referred to as the "Hawaii of China" due to its pleasant weather and beautiful beaches. Talking about beaches, it is home to various ones, each with its own charm. Known for its crescent shape, Yalong Bay is one of Sanya's most famous coastal areas. It offers clear blue waters, white sandy beaches, and a range of luxury resorts. Along with Yalong Bay, other notable beaches include Dadonghai and Haitang Bay.

📜Legend:

According to local folklore, a long time ago, there was a poor fisherman in Sanya who rescued a woman who was stranded at sea. This woman turned out to be a manifestation of Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. As a token of gratitude, Guanyin promised to protect the fisherman's village.

Over time, the village prospered, and the fisherman became wealthy. However, he wanted to share his good fortune with others. In a dream, Guanyin instructed him to go to Nanshan (South Mountain) and build a temple there to promote kindness and compassion.

The fisherman followed the instructions, and the Nanshan Temple was built. Later, a giant statue of Guanyin, standing tall and facing the South China Sea, was erected in the area. This statue, known as the Nanshan Guanyin, has become a symbol of compassion, kindness, and protection in Sanya.
