Sanya Tianli Bay Hyatt Hotel is conveniently located near Phoenix Airport, adjacent to the Tianya Haijiao scenic area, and facing Xidao Island across the sea. Nestled between mountains and ocean, this large-scale resort offers comprehensive amenities, making it a standard yet delightful island getaway with warm hospitality as radiant as the tropical weather.
Five buildings are staggered along the coastline, all featuring sea views from higher floors. Lush greenery and recreational facilities fill the spaces between buildings, ensuring plenty of activities without leaving the property: a main pool deep enough to avoid becoming a kiddie pool, a mini zoo to entertain children, and various paid activities—including a cringe-worthy artificial pink beach that even influencers would scoff at. The rocky shoreline leads to a coarser sandy beach and multi-hued waters that only reveal their beauty on clear days. Like most resorts of its kind, it’s fun but not thrilling, scenic but not breathtaking.
Its biggest perk and drawback both stem from proximity to the airport—ideal for first or last stops on a trip, but directly under flight paths. Outdoor activities are accompanied by roaring plane noises (a treat only for aviation geeks). Thankfully, soundproofed rooms minimize indoor disturbance. Flights taper off by 11 PM, but the real test comes at 4-5 AM—light sleepers should request earplugs in advance.
Members receive basic perks: a pre-arrival call and off-season upgrades to "garden-view suites" (mostly corner units with spacious but viewless balconies). The suite feels more like a vacation apartment, with a simple kitchen and a quirky bunk-bed nook. Dual showers are family-friendly, though the tiny bathtub seems designed for kids under 1.2m.
The sixth-floor executive lounge squanders its height with bland decor but hides the hotel’s only rebellion: two unconventional fresh juices (guava and dragon fruit) at afternoon tea. Evening happy hours are busy but uninspired, offering a few basic hot dishes.
Breakfast at the ground-floor café is a sprawling yet underwhelming affair, with odd innovations like selenium-rich purple sweet potato oatmeal (trying too hard yet missing the mark). Fresh juices and breads save the day, but charging for young coconuts is tacky.
Verdict: This place caters to couples, siblings, families, and even pets—celebrating all wholesome relationships. But lone wolves, steer clear unless you enjoy self-inflicted misery.
