Cheaper than Phuket... and more beautiful!

Sanya is often hailed as the "Chinese Maldives" and personally I struggled to believe that. However, cheap flights tickets and hotels tempted me to go and see for myself. Hainan has visa free entry for many nationalities so it is a good destination in China to travel without worrying about the visa.

The beach in Sanya stretches the entire length of the city, taking an hour to travel from one side to the other via bus. The sea is very beautiful and you can see the sea floor clearly while swimming. I was surprised how clean it was, especially compared to Phuket which is often praised for the beautiful sea.

For a budget holiday I highly recommend, 5 star hotels can be found for less than S$100 per night with return flights from less than S$250.
