Yashan Flower Sea and Stone Forest is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River, in Hewan Town, Nanling County, at the junction of Tongling, Chizhou and Wuhu . It is the karst landform landscape with the largest stone forest distribution area in China's Yangtze River Delta region.
The scenic area is a blend of stone forests, karst caves, waterfalls, canyons, cemeteries, underground rivers and mountaintop lakes, creating a picturesque scene. There are more than 60 pictographic peaks: the Y-shaped Peak, the Beauty Peak, the Bat Peak and the Lion Peak, all facing each other; the magical stones are lifelike, and the giant tortoise, the Bajie Stone, the toad watching the sky and the rhinoceros watching the moon are all very interesting. The stone forest landscape is all over the mountains.
The cemetery boasts unique features, including tiankeng, stone forest, Jianshan, and the majestic stone mountain. The peony stone forest boasts 88 caves of varying sizes , with " West Mountain Spiritual Stone " designated one of Wuhu's Ten Scenic Spots. Yanni Cave, Hailong Cave, Shuanglongjing, and underground rivers are all mysterious and captivating. Longjing is warm in winter and cool in summer, boasting three tides a day, a rare sight. Nanling Lake, atop the mountain, suddenly appeared overnight during the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, a truly remarkable sight.

Yashan is called " Sea of Flowers " because the scenic area belongs to the protected area of origin of Chinese peonies. Local mountain people have been planting medicinal peonies for generations. After development, the scenic area now has three peony viewing gardens, transplanting and cultivating more than 200 varieties of 9 categories of precious peonies . Every spring in April and May, thousands of acres of peonies become a sea of flowers. Peonies all over the mountains are stacked up against the mountains, and the flowers are in clusters, which is beautiful.
