Stepping into Sheraton Yalong Bay feels like discovering a hidden paradise nestled between coconut groves and ocean waves. The tropical breeze carries the scent of the sea, instantly washing away all fatigue.
The hotel's architecture beautifully blends Nanyang charm with modern minimalism. The lobby features high ceilings and an open layout, where wooden elements intertwine with gentle sea breezes, creating an atmosphere of pure relaxation. After check-in, I couldn't wait to head to my room. The Deluxe Sea View Room I stayed in offered 180-degree floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the azure waters of Yalong Bay without reservation. The interior, decorated in beige and light brown tones with rattan furniture and seashell accents, made falling asleep to the sound of waves incredibly soothing.
The most delightful surprise was the hotel's pool complex. Five uniquely styled pools, like scattered sapphires, cater to everyone—from a children's water playground to an infinity pool perfect for adults. Floating by the infinity pool, I felt one with the ocean, where the distant horizon blurred the line between sea and sky. Sipping a refreshing mojito while watching the sunset paint the pool in shades of orange and red made time slow down.
Beyond the pool area lies a vast coconut grove lawn. Tall palm trees sway in the wind, while hammocks and swings dot the grass, offering a perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon. As night falls, the hotel hosts beachside barbecue parties, where the lively atmosphere blends seamlessly with the romance of the ocean.
For more thrilling experiences, the hotel offers a variety of water sports, from sailing and jet skiing to banana boat rides. I tried stand-up paddleboarding and, with the instructor's guidance, gradually found my balance, floating on the crystal-clear water, marveling at the marine life and colorful coral reefs below.
Dining options are equally impressive. Baiyun Chinese Restaurant serves a mix of Hainanese specialties and classic Cantonese dishes, like the sizzling stone pot flame shrimp and sweet-and-sour crispy pineapple pork. The Yao Chi Western Restaurant offers international cuisine and Hainanese delicacies amidst the tropical ambiance. The seaside lawn buffet dinner is a must-try, where you can savor delicious seafood barbecue while enjoying the ocean breeze, live music, and a breathtaking sunset—pure bliss.
