Sapporo TV Tower was built in 1956 and was designed and built by the Showa period architect Naito Takashi. Naito Tachu is known as the "Father of Earthquake-Resistant Structures" and "Dr. Tower". Buildings in Japan such as the Tokyo Tower, Nagoya TV Tower, and Osaka Tsutenkaku were all designed by him.
In 2002, Sapporo TV Tower reopened after a comprehensive renovation and transformed into a tourist landmark. The mascot "TV Dad" made its debut at the same time!
The TV Tower is a landmark in the center of Sapporo. Just by looking up at the TV tower, you can estimate your location. The Sapporo TV Tower is like a giant compass.
From the observation deck of the TV tower, you can see Otaru City, the Sea of Japan, the vast horizon of the Ishikari Plain, and the rolling mountains including Mt. Moiwa in the distance. With this magnificent scenery as the background, the streets of Sapporo are right at your feet, and the City Hall, Hokkaido University, Sapporo Station, etc. are all clearly visible.
This time we were able to enjoy a lush Datong Park dotted with colorful flower beds. The scenery was unforgettable!
