I had long wanted to explore Mount Moiwa Rope way or even Sapporo as a destination. Thanks to a fantastic last minute airline deal we were able to make a weekend trip. Once you’re at the viewing deck at the top you’ll agree that claim is not an exaggeration.

To get to the viewing deck, you need to ride the ropeway and cable car that both run every 15 minutes. At the transit of these two, you can do some souvenir shopping. There’s also a hiking trail if you prefer to traverse the forest.

Other activities at the viewing deck include (1) buying a love lock and locking it on the rails surrounding the bell, (2) ringing the bell and making a wish, and (3) using a telescope to spot and get an up-close look of famous buildings in the city.
