One Day Trip (Fukuoka-Nanzoin Temple)
Nanzoin Temple, or as people call it "The Reclining Buddha Temple", is a Buddhist temple located in Sasaguri City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is currently a famous tourist attraction in Fukuoka Prefecture. This temple is known for having the world's largest bronze reclining Buddha statue (Nanzoin Daibutsu), measuring 41 meters long, 11 meters high, and weighing over 300 tons. It was built in 1995 amidst nature and a valley famous for praying for good fortune. There is a story that the abbot of Nanzoin Temple won the lottery for 130 million yen by placing the lottery ticket next to the statue of Daikokuten, the god of wealth.
Because the Buddha statue is large and very tall, five-colored cloth is hung from the Buddha's hand to the bottom so that people who come to worship can hold the colored cloth, which is like touching the Buddha's hand. And on the soles of the Reclining Buddha's feet, there is a pattern like this carved. The soles of the Buddha's feet are called "Butsoku". People like to place coins along the pattern on the soles of their feet to pray for blessings. .................
