There are many places in Semarang that have history behind them. One of the most popular spot is Lawang Sewu. The meaning of this name is "A Thousand Doors" although actually the doors here are only about 900 plus.
You'll find many kinds of train miniature inside, since it is also a train museum. If you come here for the first time, you can also ask a guide to help you understand more about the story behind each corner of Lawang Sewu.
Lawang Sewu opens daily from 8 AM to 8 PM. I also recommend you to see its night view that may starts after 18.30 PM.
Closest attractions : Tugu Muda, Satria Mandala Museum, Bandeng Juwana Elrina (place for souvenirs), Simpang Lima. Best way to get here with public transportation is with Semarang BRT bus corridor II, stop at Balai Kota bus stop.
