Strolling through the spring cherry blossom season at the stone torii and the red sacred bridge --- Sendai Toshogu Shrine

#Sendai Sakura

The perfect combination of a historic site and a cherry blossom viewing spot, Sendai Toshogu Shrine is both majestic and tranquil. This ancient shrine was built by Date Tadashi, the second lord of Sendai Domain. The shrine is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu and has a history of 1,600 years. It has been designated as an important national cultural property.

There are about 80 cherry trees in the temple, including ancient cherry trees that are more than 100 years old, Somei Yoshino cherry trees next to the shrine approach, weeping cherry trees on the west side of the worship hall, and wild cherry trees on the north side. The scenery is unique and beautiful when they are in full bloom.
