Breathtaking, Unique, and Absolutely Worth It

If you're traveling to Jeju Island, the Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff is not just another stop on the itinerary—it's a powerful demonstration of nature's artistry and a must-see landmark.

The Experience: Located on the southern coast of Jeju, near the popular Jungmun area, the cliff is surprisingly easy to access. After a short walk from the ticket booth and a descent down a well-maintained staircase, you are greeted by an unforgettable view. The "Jusangjeolli" are spectacular hexagonal rock pillars that rise from the coast, formed hundreds of thousands of years ago when cool lava from Hallasan Mountain met the sea in a dramatic geological event.

The first sight is truly awe-inspiring. The geometric perfection of the columns looks almost man-made, as if a giant laid down a staircase for the gods. The contrast of the dark volcanic rock against the brilliant blue of the ocean and the white spray of crashing waves is a photographer's dream. You can spend a significant amount of time just watching the waves crash against these unique formations, each impact sending plumes of seawater into the air.

Highlights & Tips:

· The Viewpoints: The paved path offers several different viewing platforms at various heights and angles. Each one provides a unique perspective, so take your time to explore them all. The lower platforms get you closer to the action and the sound of the waves, while the higher ones offer a more panoramic view of the scale of the formation.
· Photo Opportunities: This is one of the most photogenic spots in Jeju. For the best light, visit in the morning or later in the afternoon. Don't forget to look down—the patterns of the hexagons are fascinating from above.
· Combine Your Trip: The cliff is part of the Jungmun Tourist Complex, making it easy to combine with other attractions. The Jungmun Beach, Cheonjeyeon Waterfall, and Jeju International Convention Center (ICC) are all within a 5-10 minute drive.
· Accessibility: The site involves stairs, but the main viewing platforms are accessible without an overly strenuous hike. Wear comfortable shoes nonetheless.

Things to Note:

· It can get very windy, so hold onto your hats and be prepared for a bit of sea spray.
· The site is popular with tour groups, especially around midday. For a more peaceful experience, try to visit early in the day.#daepo#familytrip #jeju #jejuisland #southkorea
