Daepo Jusangjeolli Cliff — a natural masterpiece created by a volcano
This is one of the most impressive places on Jeju: massive hexagonal basalt columns that look as if they were hand-carved. But it’s not man-made — it’s the result of Mount Hallasan’s volcanic eruption and cooling lava, which formed this perfect geometry right by the ocean.
One glance is enough to feel like you’re standing on the edge of another planet: waves crash against the columns, spraying hundreds of droplets, while the ocean air smells of salt and freedom.
📍 Why you should visit:
• Witness a rare natural phenomenon in person, not just in textbooks
• Feel the power of the ocean up close
• Capture one of the most cinematic photos on Jeju
• Nearby viewing platforms and coastal trails for a scenic walk
It’s best to visit at sunset — the sun illuminates the columns, and the ocean turns golden.
💡 Entrance fee: approximately 2,000₩, but the view is worth every penny.
