I visited Jeju Island's "Bunker of Light"
Bunker de Lumières is an immersive media art exhibition hall located in Seongsan-eup, Jeju Island.
Based on the concept of the Atelier des Lumières, which originated in France, this museum presents media art exhibitions utilizing light and music throughout the entire bunker.
Originally a military communications facility, the bunker has been reborn as a cultural space.
Inside, the ceiling, floor, and walls function as screens, allowing for an immersive art experience.
Large-scale exhibitions by renowned artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt, and Picasso have been held here.
During my visit, "Kandinsky: The Odyssey of Abstraction" was on display.
Vassily Kandinsky was a Russian artist considered the founder of abstract art.
His non-objective expressions combined music, color, and form. He is a unique figure who significantly changed the direction of modern art.
This exhibition combines media art and video technology to allow visitors to experience Kandinsky's world of art.
At moments when Kandinsky's colors flowed like music, it may have felt as if the painting was moving with the music.
Kandinsky's colors in the Bunker of Light were not paintings, but music. Blue was resonance, and red was trembling.
As I walked along the walls and floor, dyed in color, I found myself becoming a single dot of line and color.
