Tucked into the southwestern corner of Jeju Island, the Songaksan Mountain Trail offers a blend of gentle hiking and breathtaking wide-open views of the sea and sky. This extinct volcanic cone features a unique double crater and sits along the coast — meaning much of the walk feels like it’s floating above the waves.
The trail is relatively easy and family-friendly: you can take the paved path that loops around the mountain (part of the larger Jeju Olle Trail Route 10) and reach rewarding vantage points that overlook the nearby islands of Gapado and Marado, as well as the distant outline of Hallasan Mountain on clear days. Along the way, you’ll also encounter historical cave trenches from the Japanese military era — subtle reminders of the island’s layered past.
Whether you’re here for a peaceful hike, a memorable sunset, or just to breathe in the beauty of Jeju’s coastline, the Songaksan Mountain Trail delivers with minimal effort and maximum reward. Comfortable walking shoes and a windbreaker (due to coastal gusts) are all you need for a scenic outing you’ll remember.
