During this trip to Seoul, I planned a special itinerary—a visit to the Blue House.
Recommendation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Transportation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Direct access via Bus 01A)
The Blue House, once the official residence and office of South Korea's presidents, has long been shrouded in an aura of mystery and power. Since opening to the public in 2022, it has become a popular destination for tourists visiting Seoul.
In terms of transportation, you can take Bus 01A near Gyeongbokgung Station on the subway. The bus will drop you off right at the entrance gate of the Blue House, making it very convenient without the need for transfers or long walks. However, as the Blue House is situated on slightly elevated terrain, you will need to walk a short distance and pass through security checks before entering the premises. Comfortable shoes and some extra time are recommended. (Note: Reservations are required in advance.)
The main building features traditional Korean-style blue-tiled roofs, which look stunning against a clear blue sky. In addition to the architecture, the grounds include expansive lawns and gardens, offering a tranquil atmosphere that contrasts with the bustling city center.
Overall, visiting the Blue House is a relaxing yet enriching experience. Spending a morning here is highly worthwhile, especially for those interested in history or architecture. This former center of power is a must-see.
