JCC Art Center & CAFFE Arietta (by Tadao Ando)

#Domestic travel

The weather is very sunny and it is the height of the extremely hot summer. Sweat is pouring down like rain, but the pictures are artistic under the blue sky. At that time, I didn't know that I could see Namsan Seoul Tower from here.

As expected, it is Ando Sensei. 👍 Yes! This is a building designed by Tadao Ando, a world-renowned Japanese architect.

While traveling around Japan, I started with the Chichu Art Museum and Ie Project in Naoshima, and guided my fellow employee who liked Tadao Ando around Japan.

While visiting the Times and the Garden of Masterpieces in Kyoto, and the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in Kobe, I also fell in love with the charm of concrete. I also visited Tomamu Water Church, Tokyo Omotesando Hills, and Awaji Yumebutai.

I also visited the Sapporo Buddha Hill, the Nariwa Museum in Takahashi, Okayama Prefecture, and the Bonte Museum and Museum San in Korea. I recently heard that there is one in Seoul, so I came here.

It is divided into two buildings, the Art Center and the Creative Center, which are about 90 meters away. I will first look around the JCC Art Center. The performance hall and exhibition hall are not open to the public.

It seems that you can only visit exhibitions or concerts held here. So I will mainly look around the outside space of the Art Center. Then, I order coffee and dessert at Cafe Arietta, which is considered Tadao Ando's cafe.

The coffee tastes good, but I wish the sandwiches and financiers tasted better. The desserts and cakes on the Museum Mountain side were better.

However, the grandeur of the concrete pillars inside and the arrangement of the chairs at the entrance to the cafe really give off a sense of Ando. It is a building that is about 4 stories high, but it is tall because it is located on an uphill slope.

I looked up without thinking, and Namsan Seoul Tower was right there. This must also be Ando's trick! The light, shadows, and the tower reflecting between the buildings at different times were so beautiful. Thank you.
