A traditional market in the heart of Seoul that you shouldn't miss.

Gwangjang Market (광장시장) is a historic market that has been open since 1905, located in the heart of Seoul's Jongno district. It's famous for its local cuisine, clothing, silk, and hanbok, and its charming atmosphere steeped in traditional Korean culture.

🍲The market's highlight is the "pojangmacha" (포장마차) stalls, which offer tables for locals to sit and enjoy a meal. Food items include spicy tteokbokki, sundae (blood sausage), boiled liver and offal, and even oden in a hot broth, all served on trays in the center of the table. The atmosphere is like having dinner with friends.

☕ For coffee lovers, the ILHO Korea Coffee Roasting Champion cafe in the market is a hidden gem. The owner is a Korean coffee roaster who created specialty menus like the "Gwangjang Blanc" and "Gwangjang Latte," using beans roasted exclusively at the market. The shop is quite small, with no seating and takeaway only.

🍩 For those who love sweets, I recommend Chapssal Kkwabaegi, which sells freshly fried glutinous rice dough donuts, buttered and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Crispy on the outside and incredibly soft on the inside, these donuts are reasonably priced at just 1,000–1,500 won, but the taste is legendary. When we went, we didn't have to wait long, although the line seemed long. But the queue moves quickly.
