National Palace Museum of Korea, Hwanghudan and Hwanghuje

#AugustTravelSupport

I had a truly meaningful time at the National Palace Museum of Korea, learning about Hwangudan and the Hwangudan Ritual.๐Ÿฆ‹

Hwangudan is an altar where offerings to heaven were made. Hearing that it was established as a ceremonial space when Emperor Gojong declared the nation an empire in the late Joseon Dynasty, I realized that it wasn't just a relic, but an important symbol of the nation's status and identity. The fact that the Hwangudan Ritual was a ritual where the emperor offered sacrifices to heaven and prayed for the nation's well-being and prosperity further deepened its political and cultural significance.๐ŸŒณ

The exhibition provided a detailed look at the Hwangudan Ritual procedures, ritual offerings, and ritual attire, making me feel as if I were present at the actual ceremony. It was incredibly informative to be able to experience the emperor's ritual culture, often forgotten throughout history, through such well-organized materials and exhibits, and it rekindled my pride in our cultural heritage.๐Ÿ”ฎ
