Seoul Gwanghwamun Square: A Time-Travel Journey! Experience 600 Years of Korean History in a Second

In the early days of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun was known as "Miri Gate" without a specific name. In the third year of King Taejo's reign (1395), Jeong Do-jeon renamed it "Jeongmun." During the renovation of Gyeongbokgung Palace in the eighth year of King Sejong's reign (1426), scholars at Jihyeonjeon adopted the name "Gwanghwamun," a name that has remained in use to this day.

In August 2022, Gwanghwamun Square reopened to the public with a brand new look. By restoring the 600-year-old Six Dynasties Street of Sejong-ro, Seoul's main street, it has been reborn as a historical and cultural experience space.
